Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) - To be or not to be
Birdman
is a dark comedy drama about Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) who is an out of
job Hollywood actor famous for playing the superhero Birdman in blockbuster
movies decades earlier. Riggan consistently talking to it’s own voice of his
alter ego Birdman, who criticizes him, and he imagines himself performing
supernatural powers when he is alone by himself. Riggan wants to reinvent his
career as finest theatre artist by writing, directing, and starring in a
Broadway adaptation of Raymond Carver's short story "What We Talk About,
When We Talk About Love". The movie is about Riggan’s emotion, his fragile
personality and his battle to be able prove himself as well as people around
his surrounding as co-artists, his daughter, his ex-wife and a lover.
Birdman
is one of it’s kind movie with great story line and amazing performances by
each character. The direction is superb especially with fast camera movement
inside Broadway backstage and the background music of drums which is in sync
with storyline in perfect manner. Michael Keaton acting is one of the best
acting we have seen in a long time and Edrwad Norton gives his finest
performance as passionate theatre actor. It also has good set of finest actors
like Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Andrea Riseborough and Zach Galifianakis, each
one of them has done their part with brilliance.
The
movie has great scene and moments and I foresee this movie is going to be a
cult in coming time, the way it has portrayed failed artiste life, mass madness
towards blockbuster movie and business of art critics with a superb climax
scene, no wonder it has highest Oscar nomination.
This
is a must watch movie and I am planning to watch it time and again.
