Dil Dhadakne Do - A Family High On High Sea

Dil Dhadakne Do is an ensemble family comedy drama directed by Zoya Akhtar. It's a story about a multi-millionaire family of Mehra's who is on the verge of Bankruptcy. Kamal Mehra (Anil Kapoor) is struggling with his business empire which used to be successful and has troubled relationship with his wife Neelam (Shefali Shah) but pretends to be great couple in the eyes of society. They have two children, one is Ayesha (Priyanka Chopra) who is self-made successful business woman but her success was always ignored by her father Kamal Mehra and her husband Manav (Rahul Bose) as they wanted her to do the duties of typical Indian woman and start family. Their another child Kabir (Ranveer Singh) who is expected to take a rein of family business but he has a dream to become pilot.

In order to save their business, Kamal Mehra plans his 30 year anniversary bash in 10 days Cruise in European shores and the entire drama unfolds in that journey which brings this broken family together.

Zoya has unique style of storytelling through ensemble cast in the background of an exotic trip and she has proved her mettle with her third movie which keeps audience interested in the characters she builds in her story. The casting is done in superb way to make it believe story with it’s own shocking values with tinge of humour. As the movie casts best of the actors from the industry however according to me the ones who still stand among them are Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah. Priyanka Chopra carries the emotion of new age successful yet suppressed woman with perfection and Ranveer Singh looks energetic with complete control of his character as young & confused rich boy. The story is funny and will pinch you about the reality as well as illusions in society we live in.

I loved this movie and yes, it was hat-trick for Zoya after Luck By Chance and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara. Go for it.
