Deool - God Proposes, Human Disposes
Deool is a marathi movie made on backdrop of peaceful village called Mangrul. One day Keshav (Girish Kulkarni), a village youth, sees lord Dattatrey (Datta) in his dreams while taking a nap under a tree. He makes a hue and cry in the village saying God made an appearance for him. Anna (Dilip Prabhavalkar), most respected figure of Mangrul, advises him against announcing such personal matter as it’s a question of faith.
However it is too late and political situation in the village urge Bhau (Nana Patekar) under the pressure from younger political workers to create temple of Datta in place of hospital and schools.
Mangrul goes through a 360 degree change due to commercialization but nobody is complaining except Anna. Soon, due to the blindness of commercial progress, God is forgotten. This movies makes us think about the faith we have and the commercialisation and ethical representation of God at all such holy places that we idiolise.
The movie is well-made and carry essence of rural maharashtra with unqiue characterisations, humor and overall story telling. It really makes you think about your love towards god. After watching movie do the re-think when we you visit- Shirdi, Tirupati Balaji, and look around the commercial exploitation and the way God is treated, it will shock you for sure.
A master piece a movie every Indian must see.
